Scholars Online Academic Calendar for 2011-2012

Important Dates for Academic Year Classes 2011/2012

(See the Summer Schedule 2011 for summer course dates.)

Registration period for academic year courses 2011/2012:
Normal registration for classes starting in the fall opens 1 March 2011 and closes 19 August 2011 to allow the administration to process all enrollments and set up accounts. Teachers will determine whether to cancel courses with low enrollments at this time.
Late registration (with penalty):
Late registration and payment opens 20 August and closes 16 September. Registration fees for the academic year will be $50 instead of $30 during this period to cover the costs of accelerated account and payment processing.
Tuition due dates:
Full tuition and fees are due by 20 August 2011. This deadline applies even if you choose to pay in installments over the spring and summer, unless you make arrangements with the accounts manager. Students who have not completed membership, registration, and full tuition payments will not be admitted to class.
Refund Policy:
Please check our revised refund policy on the Tuition and Fees page.

Academic Calendar

  • Orientation courses for Moodle, chat, and policies begin May 1 for new students attending summer courses and will be held weekly on different nights. These are self-enrolled courses offered as part of your Scholars Online membership.
  • Look for on-going open sessions during the summer for teacher-parent oreintations in the Moodle open course "Parent Classical Christian Ed Discussion". If you have questions about a specific class, please contact the teacher directly.
  • Most classes begin Tuesday, September 6, 2011 following the Labor Day holiday, but some teachers may begin chat sessions a week earlier or later. Check the class listing to verify start dates.
  • Thanksgiving Holidays are Thursday, 24 November and Friday, 25 November 2011.
  • Scholars Online official Christmas Holiday begins after classes are dismissed on Friday, 16 December 2011, and ends with the first classes on Monday, 2 January 2012. There will be limited administrative support during this period; both the primary site and the Moodle may be offline for updates and maintenance. Teachers may choose to teach during this period, so be sure to verify the class meeting schedule with your individual teachers.
  • Holy Week is observed beginning with the last classes on Friday, 30 March 2012 and ending with the first classes on Monday, 9 April 2012.
  • Last day of classes for the regular session is Friday, 1 June 2012. Finals are usually administered during the first full week of June.

Individual teachers may at their own discretion grant more extensive holidays during the Christmas/New Year period, observe other holidays such as Veterans Day or Memorial Day, and may schedule review and examination weeks during which classes will not meet. Be sure to check the individual course descriptions and schedules as soon as you receive Moodle access for your classes for chat session and examination schedules.
