This course covers the general themes in intellectual, political, and social history from the time of colonization through the Cold War era. The course may be used to prepare students to take either the Advanced Placement or CLEP exams in U.S. History, upon consultation with the instructor. Additional work will be offered to aid in this preparation if desired.Prerequisites

It is recommended that students have some background in world history before registering for American History.
