How Scholarships Work

The Scholars Online Scholarship Fund

Scholars Online is privileged to have a dedicated and generous Board of Directors, teaching staff, and loyal students and parents. In 2007, in response to several donations by student families, the Board of Directors established the scholarship fund and begin designating a minimum of 7% of our annual income to provide financial aid for our students, many of whom come from missionary families, single-income families, or families with medical need. In addition to several donations from students and families in subsequent years, all money earned through our Bookstore as an Amazon Associate has also been designated for scholarships.

Scholarships are offered in the form of tuition waivers paid directly to the teachers. The amount of tuition waiver is determined on a case-by-case basis but is usually 50% of tuition charges, while scholarship funds last. Families are responsible for membership and registration fees, for any tuition not covered by the waiver, and for all books and supplies required for their courses. No money is distributed directly to a scholarship recipient.

Between 2019 and 2023, more than eight thousand dollars in tuition deferrals were awarded to fifteen scholarship students.

Applying for Scholarships

We trust that you have given serious consideration to your need, and recognize that our scholarship funds are limited, and that, once disbursed to help you, they are not available for other students in need.

If you do wish to request financial aid, please contact our Accounts and Billing office at accounts@scholarsonline.org, or mail us at

You will need to include a statement describing your financial need situation (limited income, medical expenses, family emergency). We do not require income tax information or other detailed personal financial information. Once we have established a recognized need,

  1. You will enroll in the courses you wish your students to take
  2. We will issue a formal scholarship offer to you
  3. You will need to accept the offer and pay membership and registration fees
  4. We will credit your tuition charges with the scholarship amount offered
  5. You will need to complete any remaining tuition payments, and purchase books and supplies.
