Accreditation Report
Early Bird Discount Ends April 30

Accreditation News

Accreditation is not necessarily important to all homeschooled students, but for others, transferring with credits to a public or private school, gaining admission to a college, university, or military academy, participating in a sports program, or simply getting reasonable rates for their driver's license may require attendance at an accredited institution. Even for students who do not need formally accredited courses, review of an academic institution by a third party ensures that they are receiving an education that meets the standards expected by colleges and employers across the country.

We believe that Scholars Online offers an exceptional academic preparation for students, and those who complete our courses should be recognized for their work, along with their teachers, by other academic institutions, as well as scholarship committees and employers. Over the last three years, the Board of Directors has worked hard to prepare for a successful accreditation assessment, conducting a thorough review of our programs and processes.

Scholars Online administration, teachers, parents, and students met for two days on April 23 and 24 (virtually, of course) with representatives of the Middle States Association — Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools. We want to thank all of those who responded to our surveys in December, 2019, and especially those who volunteered to be interviewed by the MSA team. After reviewing our self-study results and action plans for the next seven years, the team notified us that they would be recommending Scholars Online for formal accreditation at the fall meeting, and official accreditation status would be conferred on December 1.

Scholarship Fund

Scholars Online receives donations for scholarships directly, and dedicates all money received from its Bookstore Amazon Associates affiliation to the Scholarship fund. Scholarships are granted on a case-by-case basis for tuition assistance when students would otherwise be unable to take courses due to job loss, medical expenses, or other family emergencies. Please contact accounts@scholarsonline.org to request information about scholarship availability for the 2020 Summer and Academic Year Courses.

Direct contributions to our scholarship fund are tax-exempt, as Scholars Online is a 501(c)(3) organization. To make a donation by check or online, see our Scholarship page.
