Welcome to the 2020-2021 Academic Year

Late Enrollment is Open

We realize that many people are still struggling to complete their educational plans for 2020-2021 as their circumstances continue to change, especially with more school closures due to coronavirus. Some of our courses still have places for students, so even though we have already begun holding live chat sessions, we will consider requests for late enrollments. Please contact the teacher or email accounts@scholarsonline.org to find out whether the course you would like to take is still open...but hurry!

FERPA, COPPA, and Privacy Policies

We have put in place policies to help us comply with federal privacy laws and international regulations. One of the consequences of the FERPA law is that when a student turns 18, parents lose access to academic records. Moodle Mentor block access to student course work and parent Administration account access to transcripts must be revoked unless we have a signed release from the student on file.

We monitor student ages, and about three weeks before the month in which a student turns 18, we will send both the parent and the student a copy of the letter to sign, scan, and send back to us. If we do not receive permission, access will be terminated at the beginning of the month in which the student turns 18. We realize this can be a jolt if, as a parent, you expect access to records to help students prepare college applications, so please return these letters promptly!

Note that this policy applies also to students who are not currently enrolled in Scholars Online courses. If you need access to records that no longer appear on your account, please notify the Scholars Online Accounts office to request a release letter for your student to sign.

Scholarship Fund

Scholars Online receives donations for scholarships directly, and dedicates all money received from its Bookstore Amazon Associates affiliation to the Scholarship fund. Scholarships are granted on a case-by-case basis for tuition assistance when students would otherwise be unable to take courses due to job loss, medical expenses, or other family emergencies. Please contact accounts@scholarsonline.org to request information about scholarship availability for our Summer and Academic Year Courses. Scholarships will be distributed June 1.

Direct contributions to our scholarship fund are tax-exempt, as Scholars Online is a 501(c)(3) organization. To make a donation by check or online, see our Scholarship page. You may also donate by making purchases from Amazon.com through the Scholars Online Bookstore site or by designating Scholars Online as your charity of choice at Smile at Amazon.
