Welcome to Scholars Online 2025 Academic Year

Orientation Sessions
Starting Classes

Enrollment Deadline August 20, 2025

If you are still considering enrollments for your family, please let us know how we can help you figure out the best fit for your students. Time is running out to make sure that new students can attend orientation and start classes on time. Teachers may need time to review student preparation and contact you with questions before accepting students into class. Account payments for membership and registration must be made before students can have access to the Moodle and Chat sessions for orientation, and we need some lead time because we review and process payments and activate accounts manually.

Late enrollments may be possible after this date, but we cannot ensure student accounts will be ready in time for students to attend orientation sessions during the week of August 25.

Welcome to a New School Year

Students: Please login to your Scholars Online account and check your schedules to make sure that all of your courses are showing on your individual schedule page. Parents, you should be able to view all of your students' schedules from your own account page.

Sponsors: check your own invoice and verify that all membership fees for the sponsoring adult and both membership and registration fees for each enrolled student have been paid and credited to your account, and that tuition amounts are correct.

All tuition fees are also due before the start of classes unless you have written confirmation from the Accounts office that we have negotiated an installment plan for you. If you need to arrange for installment payments, let the Accounts office know as soon as possible.

Chat and Policy Orientation Sessions

Orientation to Scholars Online Chat and Moodle is a short introduction to the functions of our own special AJAX-powered HTML-enabled chat environment and our Moodle course delivery system. Learn how to get the most out of live chat so that you can fully participate in your classes. Discover how to navigate the Moodle to find your courses, assignments, grades, send messages to teachers and other students, post to forums, and submit assignments. These sessions will be held in The Commons Chat, available to all Scholars Online Members from the Chat login.

Chat Orientation Sessions:

  • Monday, 25 August, 8:00 PM Eastern / 5:00 PM Pacific
  • Wednesday, 27 August, 2:30 PM Eastern / 11:30 AM Pacific
  • Friday, 29 August, 11:00 AM Eastern / 8:00 AM Pacific

Policy Orientation sessions have also been scheduled to allow parents and students to meet with Scholars Online administrators and teachers in live chat. We will discuss parent-teacher communications, plagiarism and cheating policies, and answer any questions you may have about administrative policies and course expectations. We need all parents to attend at least one of these sessions. In the interests of clarity and for the safety of students and teachers, we will require all parents and students to affirm that they have read and understand our policies on cheating, privacy, and site use.

  • Tuesday 26 August, 8:00 PM Eastern / 5:00 PM Pacific
This session will be held using Zoom. If you prefer to attend this session, please advise the accounts administrator by noon, Monday, August 25. We will send you an invitation with a Zoom session link and password.

Please note: We cannot provide technical support for Zoom during this session. You are responsible for verifying that your internet bandwidth is adequate, and for installing the Zoom application if you prefer to use it rather than a default browser connection.

  • Wednesday 27 September, 8:00 PM Eastern / 5:00 PM Pacific
This session will be held using the Scholars Online Commons chat, and is recommended for families with low bandwidth internet connections.

We will schedule additional orientation sessions if necessary to ensure that all Scholars Online members understand our policies.
