Spanish 2--Intermediate Spanish: The second of a multi-year sequence designed to help students reach a intermediate-low to mid level of proficiency. By the end of this course, students will be able to... • Participate in conversations on familiar topics using sentences and series of sentences; handle short social interactions in everyday situations; describe personal experiences and everyday life events. • Comprehend the main idea in messages, conversations, presentations as well as texts on a variety of topics related to everyday life, personal interests, and studies. • Orally present and write on a wide variety of familiar topics using connected sentences. Students will engage with the Spanish and Latin American cultures, make comparisons with American culture, discover differences between English and Spanish grammar, and connect with others through Spanish. Classes will consist of two 60 minutes online sessions each week be conducted online using audio, text-chat, and whiteboard functions. Class time will be devoted to conversational practice and listening comprehension exercises, oral presentations, explanations of grammar and related exercises, and reading aloud. Time will also be spent reviewing homework and addressing students' questions. Homework activities on the textbook's integrated website will be assigned after every class.
