Course Description
This reading group offers a gentle introduction to Latin for students who are just starting with the language. Assuming little to no prior knowledge, the group begins with simple passages from the Latin translation of the Bible known as the Vulgate. Students learn about grammar intuitively while reading simple stories from Genesis and the Gospels, accompanied by medieval and early modern illustrations. This group is recommended especially for children in grades 4 to 6, prior to or alongside their first year of a traditional Latin course. The group is also open to students who have studied basic Latin and want to keep their reading skills fresh.
