Respect for Your Faith and Traditions

All our teachers are Trinitarian Christians (from diverse Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox backgrounds), but we do not require statements of faith from Scholars Online students or parents. We welcome to our classrooms anyone, Christian or not, who is willing to accept the challenge of seeking the Truth, and to treat fellow classmates and teachers with respect and civility.

As a parent, you may have concerns:

Why does Scholars Online insist that its teachers be Trinitarian Christians?

• We perceive our collective mission as service to the Triune God.
• Our teachers are committed to the ideas that: (a) there is objective truth comprehensible by the human mind, and (b) all students and parents (and all people) are made in the image of God and as such are entitled to respect and care.

Will Scholars Online teachers impose their religious views on my children?

• No. Our teachers are committed to respecting the religious (and non-religious) views of all students and parents. Our classes provide an environment in which students can safely explore things they have been taught from childhood, as well as the merits and weaknesses of alternative views.

Will exposure to other religious or non-religious views be harmful?

• Exposure to different interpretations of the world is inevitable, but encountering them in a principled academic setting allows a student to recognize and evaluate opinions critically and charitably, and insulates against capitulation to seductive but shallow views.
• We challenge students to articulate their own thoughts clearly and coherently, helping them become witnesses to truth.
